    Sneak Peek: Legend II

A few months back I posted an excerpt from book 2 of The Legend of Lady MacLaoch here on the blog and since I’m still writing like mad (on another series first *gulp* SO SORRY, I CAN’T HELP MYSELF!) I thought it was worth repeating. Stay tuned for book 1 news on The Legend of Lady MacLaoch; I’m feeling a St. Patrick’s day giveaway coming on!! Enjoy! From The Legend of Lady MacLaoch book 2:Prologue  The Year of Our Lord 1210Outer Hebrides, Scotland The voices hushed as her shaky voice filled the hall. The old woman took the ceramic cup of leaves that the powerful Viking had just drunk from,…

    I’m Back!! … Well, Sorta

The website look has been updated, I’ve actually put words to the new manuscript and I have one manuscript in with the editor as we speak. So! I think this means that I’m back to work… Maybe. We’ve hired on a little co-worker. He’s two feet tall and weighs about the size of a small dog food bag. He’s cool most of the time, then other times he vomits, passes out and craps his pants. Most of the time he’s asleep on the job so I can get a bit of work done. Though he’s begun to yell at me when I’m working, wants to show me this, or that.…

    Good News, It’s a Keeper

Just a quick update folks! Over here at Author Becky Banks headquarters we’ve been working madly on two manuscripts at once. AKA – Becky’s about to lose her mind or accidentally have Rowan show up in futuristic US during an environmental scare…. Here’s the 411 – EPA Agent (to be getting a new name shortly!) got the thumbs up from the editor, it’s good, needs a few tweeks and more introspection but well on its way to publish later this year/early next. We’ll be holding naming contest for it in the coming months, plus getting its blurb up on the site and its very own page. (!!!) Stay tuned! Legend…

    Sex Scenes Anal-ized

Sex is an interesting human past time. It helps make babies, make people smile or start wars. It’s a delicate balance between two people that can either end in an awkward “was that good for you?” or pure nirvana and stained sheets. In the sphere of writing, sex has been used to accomplish all of the above. In my writing I use it as a tool to show the intimate side of my characters. Unlike some books that close the door on the reader before the sexy time happens (or whip out sex scenes that feel rehearsed), I keep the door open, let readers walk inside and live the moment…

    New Material

Image: via Since publishing my last two books I’ve been loathe to write anything on this blog about what I’m currently writing about (that seemed oddly circular…), since it is a touch like changes in the weather. You see, I’m a pantser-type writer, I write what comes to me. Luckily in the Indie book world that is acceptable (a traditional publisher would have cancelled my contract by now) so in one book I can write about lovers in Scotland with some paranormal action thrown in, and in the next a contemporary love action/thriller story that takes place in the US. Of course they all have one awesome thing in common…

Fast cars, foul language, rough sex. My next novel. Head down, nose applied to grindstone, and what have I got? Some serious work on the next novel The Mechanic (working title) – things are really coming together, and I’m PUMPED!! There are still gaping holes in it but holy crap this thing is coming together. I thought it was going to be a short story back in November of last year and wrote a post pasting the begining, and I’ve dug it out of the archives for ya. Work that Muscle is the post and it’s waaaaaaaaaay unedited so watch out literary critic, you will cringe. :0)
